Today was a long day of riding. It was warm and windy, but the winds kept hammering us from the east. What ever happened to the prevailing winds from the west? This is Day 5 of strong headwinds. At least there hasn’t been much in the way of rain for the last few days.

There weren’t any real stops of not on this day — long, flat and straight road. It was the sort of thing that I spoke about in my video — roads that seem to go on forever.

As this was Ehsan’s first trip to the prairies, there were a few things that we did see from the road that caught our interest: a beaver lodge in a pond just off the road and an oil pumpjack (also known as a nodding horse pump). These are very prevalent in Alberta, so it was good to see one, even if it was a monument to the pumps.

From there we rolled into Moosomin. I had been told by many people that Moosomin was a very up and coming community. Very forward thinking people here. We were planning to make an evening of downtown Moosomin — or at least have a good dinner. But, we first needed to find a place to camp. We were told that the Town had a campground close to the sports fields. It took a while, but we eventually found it. Simply a group of RV spots up against the fence — not such a great site. That’s when we met Sue and Kevin. They immediately offered us a beer and helped us to set up a site close to their RV. As we spoke, they made a very close and personal attachment to what we were riding for. They invited us to hav e dinner with them. We talked into the late night. By the way, their last name was Goodwill, how appropriate was that?
